A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a life member of American ex-prisoners of War. He worked as a mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service in Manhattan and ran the New York Marathon at age 65.  He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred M. (nee Parziale).
