New Canaan Running Club Competes In New England Relays

NEW CANAAN, Conn. - The two-year-old New Canaan Youth Running Club participated in the 12th annual Jim Keller Middle School Track & Field Relay Championships at New Fairfield High School, in New Fairfield last week.

"It was a wonderful experience for the New Canaan Running Club members to learn how to stay mentally focused for three events in three hours, participate in a multi-event relay meet, and enjoy camaraderie with their teammates," New Canaan Running Club board member Monica Stallings said in a release. "Most importantly, they had fun."

Five relay teams hit the track representing New Canaan, including boys and girls 4x800 teams, boy and girls 4x400 teams and a boys distance medley team.

Will Foster, Will Dooley, Sean Knight, Christian Meier took eighth place in the boys 4x800 relay. Kaitlyn Popson, Dixie D’Amelio, Mary Grace Thomas, and Cali Brannan took ninth in the girls 4x800 relay.

Kaitlyn Popson, Dixie D’Amelio, Mary Grace Thomas, Cali Brannan finished 13th in the girls 4x400 relay. Jason Kurtzman, Sean Knight, Christian Meier, Will Foster competed in the boys 4x400 relay.

Will Dooley, Jason Kurtzman, Christian Meier, Will Foster grabbed a sixth place finish in the distance medley relay.
