New Canaan Girls Track Sweeps Final Meet

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan’s girls track and field team finished its regular season with wins over Westhill, 91-54, and St. Joseph 103-47.

Cristina Konstantinovic led the way with victories in the 100-meter hurdles and triple jump. She also took second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the long jump

Other New Canaan winners included Alexandra Naughton (high jump), Maureen Schott (400), Stephanie Benko (1,600), Jenna Sachs (3,200) and Emily Lambdin (ple vault).

Other highlights for New Canaan include:

Alexandra Naughton,  second in 100 hurdles and 400; Maureen Schott, third in 100 and triple jump; Isabelle Herde, second in discus and shot put, third in javelin; and Sydney Czech, second in javelin and third in shot put.

New Canaan athletes who took seconds include Sarah Luke, 3200, and Alexis Najarian, high jump. Third-place points were earned by Lilly Baer, 1,600; Isabel Hetherington, 800; Julie Spindel, 200; Brooke Decker, 3,200; Jaclyn McCurdy, high jump; Casey Pitts, discus; and Beth Kelley, pole vault.

In the Loucks Games last week in White Plains, N.Y., two relays placed well for the Rams in races for freshman and sophomores. The distance medley relay took sixth with Alex Naughton, Maureen Schott, Emily Wood and Isabel Hetherington. The 4 x 400 relay was eighth with Emily Wood, Naughton, Keaton McAuliffe and Schott.
