New Canaan Girls Track Splits on Senior Day

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan's girls track team honored its seniors at the last home meet of the season. The Rams beat Harding, 139-1, and lost to Staples.

The seniors include Stephanie Benko, Kelly Saiz, Maggie O'Rourke, Cristina Konstantinovic, Alexis Najarian, Emily Lambdin, Rebecca Evensen, Cara Egan, Cally Conron, Holly Burwick and Abby Wasden.

Top scorers for New Canaan included:

Alexis Najarian, second in high jump and 300 hurdles and third in triple jump; Maureen Schott, second in 400 and triple jump, third in 100; Sydney Czech, second in javelin and shot put; Stephanie Benko, first in 1,600; Casey Pitts, first in discus; and the 4 x 400 relay team, which won its race with Alyssa Berry, Alexandra Naughton, Emily Wood and Maureen Schott.

Other second-place finishers included Cristina Konstantinovic, 100 hurdles; Catherine DiFazio, 200; and Elizabeth Perry, 3,200.

Athletes who took third place included Lilly Baer, 1,600; Azadeh Amir-Aslani, 400; Jaclyn McCurdy, high jump; Emily Wood, 800; Julie Spindel, 200; Emily Lamdin, pole vault; Rebecca Evensen, discus; and Jenna Sachs, 3,200.
