The boys’ team won first place and the national title for Division III and the girls’ team took home third place in Division II.

Sixty-five school teams and 450 student-athletes competed at the annual three-day tournament.

“The teams played with focus, energy, emotion, poise and enthusiasm, while always displaying tremendous sportsmanship,” Cynthia Badan, varsity squash coach, said in a statement. “They have all improved an enormous amount since the beginning of the season.”

In particular, Badan commended team captains Maia Zonis and Carson Teitler, who displayed strong leadership and support of their teammates.

The boys won all three of their contests: SquashSmarts (3-2), TEVF (3-0) and PolyPrep (4-1).
