Former New England Patriots quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady says he is retiring from football "for good."

The Tampa Bay quarterback shared the news in a semi-emotional video posted to his social media accounts on Wednesday morning, Feb. 1.

"You only get one super-emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year," Brady joked. "So I really thank you guys, each and every single one of you, for supporting me."

The announcement came exactly one year after Brady last said he was stepping away from football only to return to play with the Buccaneers a short time later.

"Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream," Brady added. "I wouldn't change a thing."
