School Board Finalizes Its Final Budget Request For 2016-17

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan Board of Education's final budget for 2016-17 is $1.5 million less than the superintendent had originally asked for, according to the NCAdvertiser.

The request was able to be lowered due to the town’s decision to cover the New Canaan Public Schools’ health care insurance reserves in the current year, per town policy, said the NCAdvertiser.

First Selectman Robert Mallozzi III said the money would come from either new taxes or cash reserves, said the NCAdvertiser. The board unanimously approved the revised superintendent’s total operating budget request of about $87 million, added the NCAdvertiser.
