The concerts – held Dec. 11 at Woolsey Hall at Yale University and Dec. 14 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in New Canaan – included performances by choral ensembles, student soloists and others, according to the school district.

In addition to their performances, the students celebrated other efforts in the past year, including the successful choir auditions at the CMEA Western Region Chorus.

According to the school district, 11 New Canaan High School choir members - the most in 10 years - were selected to perform with the Chorus next month. Each selected student was also invited to audition for the Connecticut All-State Ensemble.

Additionally, three choir members from New Canaan are among those selected as All-State Choir members, according to the district. That group, which has been chosen to perform with the NAfME All-Eastern Chorus in Atlantic City, New Jersey, this coming April, includes Lauren Carlson, a soprano; Tessa Piontkowski, a soprano; and Finley Vigliotti, a tenor, according to the school district.

The final bit of news shared by the high school’s choral program involved the annual Grapefruit Fundraiser, which collected and then dispersed across each of the city’s food banks 860 boxes of food, according to the statement.
