NEW CANAAN, Conn. – An attempt to force an already-approved renovation and expansion project in New Canaan to a public referendum has failed, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
Local resident Michael Nowacki attempted to collect 625 signatures from residents to force a referendum on the $18.6 million earmarked for the expansion and renovation of Saxe Middle School, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
The deadline to file signatures was Jan. 2, reported the New Canaan Advertiser.
Nowacki said he still would be filing a federal lawsuit against various town and Board of Education officials to force a public meeting about the project, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
