Miner is also the endorsed Republican candidate in the race. He is running against Democrat David Lawson for the empty seat in the 30th Senate District, which includes Brookfield.
Sen. Clark Chapin (R) currently represents the district but is not running for re-election.
“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the Independent Party of Connecticut,” Miner said, “I’ve always prided myself on being an independent thinker, and I thank the Independent party of Connecticut for their endorsement.
“Connecticut has been going in the wrong direction and I look forward to leading Connecticut in a new direction.”
Miner is currently a state representative.
The 30th District covers 14 towns in Northwest Connecticut, including Brookfield, Canaan, Cornwall, Goshen, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, New Milford, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Torrington, Warren, and Winchester.
The Independent Party of Connecticut, the third largest political party in Connecticut, said it supports a fiscally sound and limited government.
