STAMFORD, Conn. – Incumbent L. Scott Frantz won another term as state senator for parts of Greenwich, Stamford and New Canaan on Tuesday.

Frantz defeated Democratic challenger Scott Dauplaise by a margin of 24,122 votes to 14,957. Green Party nominee Remy Chevalier garnered 659 votes.

Frantz, the Republican incumbent, was seeking his third term as state senator. Frantz is the minority whip of the Senate Republican Caucus and a member of the General Assembly’s banks and commerce committees. He also serves on the finance revenue and bonding and transportation committees. Frantz works as a businessman.

Dauplaise, the Democratic nominee, was making his first run for the state Senate. He works as an educational consultant. He is a member of the Stamford Democratic City Committee and the Long Ridge Fire Department.

Chevalier is the owner of the Environmental Library Fund. He made a run for the 26th Senate District seat in 2004 and was also running as a write-in candidate although he was on the ballot in the 36th District.

The 36th District includes Stamford, New Canaan and Greenwich.
