A woman from Wilton has been charged with DUI after police say she drifted into the opposite lane while driving in New Canaan.
New Canaan Police say a driver was observed traveling eastbound on Silvermine Road in New Canaan on Sunday, Nov. 24 around 1:10 a.m.
A traffic stop was initiated after the driver was observed drifting over the yellow center line traveling eastbound in the westbound lane and drifting back into the eastbound lane, according to police.
During officers’ interview with the driver, identified as Maria Chila, 40, of Wilton, police say signs of impairment were detected.
Chila was subsequently asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests, which police say she did not pass.
Chila was arrested and transported to headquarters, where police say a blood-alcohol test was unable to be administered.
Chila was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive upon right. She is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 5.
