Three Killed, Eight Injured In Taconic State Parkway Accident

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Three people were killed in a four-car accident on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown Saturday afternoon.

New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks responded at 2:50 p.m. to the accident, which occurred on the southbound side of the Taconic, north of Baldwin Road, according to police.

According to state police, a preliminary investigation revealed  a BMW sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound when it exited the roadway into the center median, struck an earth embankment, and became airborne into the southbound lanes.  

The BMW struck two southbound vehicles and a third southbound vehicle was also involved in the collision, according to police.

One person is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center, five people are listed in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center, and two were treated and released from Hudson Valley Hospital, according to police.

Police did not identify the victims, pending notification of next of kin. One of the deceased is a child, according to multiple media and social media reports.

The Taconic State Parkway southbound lanes in the area of the accident remained closed until approximately 9 p.m. Saturday.
