Suspect On Loose After Long Island Bank Robbery

An alleged bank robber is on the run on Long Island. police said.

The Suffolk County Police Department released a surveillance photo of a man who allegedly robbed the People’s United Bank on Long Beach Road in Oceanside at approximately 6:55 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23.

According to police, the suspect entered the bank, approached the teller and made a verbal demand for money. The teller then turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police noted that at the time of the robbery, there was one employee and no customers present.

The suspect has been described by police as a white man, approximately 50 years old, who is 5-foot-7 with a thin build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt with white pinstripes over a black sweatshirt, light-colored pants, a knit hat with a brim and dark-framed eyeglasses.
