Several Televisions Stolen From New Canaan Home

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Thousands of dollars worth of flat-screen televisions and furniture were reported stolen July 26 from a house for sale on White Oak Shade Road, according to New Canaan Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.

Some of the televisions were discovered missing by a Realtor who was showing the house on July 25, but she did not not notify police until the following day when she discovered more items missing. Initially, she thought some of the items had simply been moved, Ogrinc said.

Ogrinc said two unmounted 60-inch flat-screen TVs, one a Sony, one a Sharp and each worth $2,000, were taken from the living room, and two 45-inch Sony flat-screens worth $1,200 each and a 30-inch Sharp television worth $500 were taken from the garage.

Additionally, three mattresses and box springs, worth a total of $3,000, were taken from the garage. Ogrinc said two small chairs worth $300 each and a $1,700 blue and beige couch were taken from one of the rooms.

The home had been unlocked and had hosted several showings, in addition to an undisclosed number of workmen, in recent weeks, Ogrinc said.
