New Canaan Police To Increase Traffic Patrols

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Motorists should take better care when driving around New Canaan: Police will be increasing patrols starting Friday on several streets to stop traffic law violators, a statement from the police department said.

Officers in marked and unmarked vehicles will be looking for people who are speeding, using cellphones, passing school buses, following too closely and violating other laws that may contribute to motor vehicle accidents, the statement said.

The following streets will be specific targets for officers because of increased accidents or citizen complaints:

? Heritage Hill Road ? Jelliff Mill Road ? New Norwalk Road ? Oenoke Ridge Road ? Old Stamford Road ? Ponus Ridge Road ? Silvermine Road ? Smith Ridge Road ? South Avenue ? Weed Street
