NEW CANAAN, Conn. – The New Canaan Police Department is investigating a Zillow.com ad offering to sell a Summer Street home for $24,000 as a possible scam, according to ncadvertiser.com.
A woman saw the ad last month and emailed the person claiming to be the owner, who then asked for a small down payment to mail the keys via FedEx for her to look at the property, according to ncadvertiser.com.
After additional emails, the woman became more suspicious and contacted police Dec. 30, ncadvertiser.com reported.
The least expensive house currently listed for sale on Zillow is $298,000.
