NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan Fire Department is requesting a 2.5 percent budget increase for 2017, or $84,811 over this year's $3,329,809 budget, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
The increase will be used for salaries, repairs to the department's ladder truck from rust, and other small items, reported the New Canaan Advertiser.
The budget also showed a decrease in costs for electricity, fuel oil/gasoline and overtime. Chief Jack Hennessey said there was no fat in the budget during a recent meeting to discuss the new budget, said the New Canaan Advertiser.
