Man Charged In Bank Robberies On Back-To-Back Days In Hamlet On Long Island

A suspect has been charged for allegedly committing a pair of bank robberies in as many days in a hamlet on Long Island.

Ismael Colon, 41, of Holtsville is the suspect in robberies early this month in Farmingville.

The first bank robbery in Farmingville happened on Sunday, Feb. 2 just after 11:30 a.m.

That's when Colon allegedly entered People’s United Bank, inside Stop & Shop, located at 2350 North Ocean Ave. and handed the teller a note demanding cash, Suffolk County Police said.

The teller complied and gave him cash from the drawer, according to police. Colon allegedly fled the store on foot toward Horseblock Road.

The second bank robbed in Farmingville was the Sterling National Bank.

It happened on Monday, Feb. 3 at about 10:10 a.m., Suffolk County Police said.

Colon is accused of entering the bank, located at 696 Horseblock Road,  and handing the teller a note demanding cash, Suffolk County Police said.

The teller complied with the demand and gave him cash from the drawer. Colon allegedly fled the bank on foot.

Colon was charged with two counts of third-degree robbery. He was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
