DeShawn Harper, of Westport, was arrested on a warrant on Thursday, Sept. 12, when Bridgeport Police contact Westport Police that they had arrested Harper on another charge, said Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso.

The entire incident began on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, when Westport police responded to a residence for a trespassing complaint, Prezioso said.

The owner of the home told officers that Harper had walked into the home, which was for sale, during a showing and said he owned the residence, police said.

The home's owner called the police again on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, when he reported hearing a noise while visiting the home, he also told officers that on a visit on Saturday, Nov. 3, he found a window had been tampered with and several "strange things," had taken place such as lights being left on and then turned off. He also found several pieces of mail addressed to Harper on the front porch.

Another arrest warrant was obtained for Harper who again could not be located.

On Thursday, Sept. 12, Bridgeport Police contacted the Westport Police Department after arresting him on another matter. He was transported to Westport where he was charged with criminal trespass and burglary. Police also found he was wanted on an unrelated failure to appear warrant,
