A teenager was arrested in Darien after he was busted with drugs and alcohol while driving with his headlights off, police said.
Officers from the Darien Police Department spotted a black Volvo traveling south on Norton Avenue near the intersection of West Avenue without its headlights on, prompting a traffic stop.
According to police, during the stop, officers stated that the driver’s vehicle, Darien resident Christian Marchesi, 19, had an odor of alcohol emanating from it.
When prompted, police said that Marchesi admitted to drinking a beer, and officers noted that Marchesi’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He then proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.
Further investigation determined that Marchesi was in possession of a vape pen with a cartridge containing THC oil, which was found in the driver’s side door pouch. Marchesi later admitted to smoking the pen earlier in the evening.
At police headquarters, Marchesi’s blood alcohol content was determined to be .000, though due to the admission of use of the THC pen, arresting officers asked Marchesi to submit to a urine test, which he refused.
Marchesi was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was released on a $200 bond and is scheduled to appear back in court on Tuesday, July 30 to respond to the charges.
