Darien resident Clayton Gandini, 47, turned himself into police custody this week following an investigation that tied him to a nearly fatal overdose in Norwalk last month.
Officers from the Norwalk Police Department were dispatched to a Creeping Hemlock residence at approximately 1 p.m. on May 2, where there was a report of a man having a potential overdose.
According to reports, first responders found the man “cold and clammy,” outside of his home, gasping for breath. Officers administrated Narcan, the 45-year-old man was taken to Norwalk Hospital and since made a full recovery. His blood was tested and contained a high concentration of fentanyl, police noted.
Police said that the investigation determined that the overdose victim had been spotted at a Westport Avenue restaurant and was seen with a man fitting Gandini’s description. The victim told investigators that he had met with Gandini to purchase Suboxone, which is used to help addicts wean off of opioids, and on the way out, Gandini allegedly offered him free heroin to go with the purchase.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Gandini last month. He turned himself in to police in Norwalk on Tuesday, June 4, where he was charged with possession with intent to sell a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school. He’s currently being held on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this year to respond to the charges.
