Attempted Burglary Being Probed By New Canaan Police

NEW CANAAN, Conn.  – A home break-in and attempted theft of a miter saw from a New Canaan home is being investigated by New Canaan police.

A 52-year-old resident told police Friday someone tried to break into his home on Overlook Driver. Police said the man arrived home at about 1:50 p.m. and saw a miter saw in the home’s driveway just outside the garage doors.

Police said a door to the home’s garage partially was open and a glass pane on the door was broken. Police said the suspects attempted to steal the miter saw but left it outside. No other items from the garage or residence were disturbed, police said.

The attempted burglary apparently occurred at about 9:10 a.m., police said. The home owner was not at the residence and had received a call from his home security company about an alarm being activated. The home owner believed it was a false alarm and told the company not to contact police.
