Officers from the New Canaan Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Elm Street and South Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, where there was a report of a dispute between two men.
Upon arrival, police said that officers encountered Manhattan resident Timothy Piddington, 36, who was determined to be the aggressor in the dispute.
According to police, the victim stated that Piddington approached him while he was sitting in his vehicle parked in a legal parking space when Piddington stuck his hand inside the vehicle, through the open driver’s side window and “became aggressive towards the victim.”
When attempting to speak with Piddington, he allegedly refused to discuss the incident and refused to provide his name or address. It is further alleged that Piddington attempted to leave the scene before the investigation concluded.
Piddington was arrested at the scene for breach of peace and taken into custody. While at New Canaan Police Headquarters, Piddington refused to be photographed or fingerprinted, which led to additional charges of interfering with an officer or resisting arrest and failure to comply with a fingerprint request.
Following his processing, Piddington was held in lieu of a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear back in court on Friday, Aug. 16.
