NEW CANAAN, Conn. - Peter John Kisken, a lifelong New Canaan resident died Tuesday, April 9. He was age 79.
Kisken was born in New Canaan June 3, 1933, son of Stanley and Helena Modzeleski Kisken. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 2287.
Kisken retired as lieutenant from the New Canaan Police Department, after 30 years of service. He was appointed Sept. 1, 1958, and promoted to sergeant Nov. 9, 1970, promoted to lieutenant Aug. 1, 1976, and retired Jan. 31, 1989. He was also the Department’s firearms instructor for many years.
Kisken is survived by his wife, Frances (Ginger) Parker Kisken; brother, Eugene Kisken of Bridgeport; sister, Irene Mrus of Stamford; brother-in-law, Anthony (Buzz) Parker; sister-in-law, M. Barbara Jacobs; nieces, nephews; and great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, John and Joseph; and brother-in-law, Clarence E Jacobs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry St., New Canaan. Interment will follow in St John’s Cemetery, Darien.
