Lillian Ready, 84, Longtime New Canaan Resident

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Lillian L. Ready, a longtime resident of New Canaan, died July 13 at Waveny Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 84. 

Born May 12, 1928 in Katonah, N.Y., she was the daughter of Anthony and Stella Linski. She married Robert P. Ready, a New Canaan selectman who died in 1985. After moving to New Canaan in 1938, Ready attended local schools. 

She worked at several banks in town for many years. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her sisters and longtime friends and caring for her grandchildren. 

Ready is survived by a son, Robert (Cathy) Ready, of Greenville, S.C.; a daughter, Robin Ready (Leigh) Osborn, of Fairfield and four grandchildren. Ready was predeceased by three sisters, Agnes, Annie and Grace. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan. Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan is in charge of arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Waveny Care Center.
