NEW CANAAN, Conn. - Kathleen W. Lapolla of New Canaan died May 4. She was 86.
Lapolla was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Stourport-on-Severn, England, to Percival and Doris Barnes Brown. She was a bomb factory worker during WWII. She was crowned the Queen of Merchant Navy in 1945. She married in England in 1946 and came to New Canaan where they lived for 66 years.
Lapolla worked as a caregiver, Lang’s Pharmacy and the New Canaan Advertiser. She also volunteered at Waveny Care Center and Norwalk Hospital.
Lapolla is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Donna Gargon and Janet Bacco both of Norwalk; son, John Richard Lapolla, of New Canaan; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Francis (Keith) Morley; and nieces and nephews all of Stourport, England.
Calling hours are May 10 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hoyt Funeral Home. Services are private.
