Joel Barlow HS Grad, 30, ID'd As Man Killed In Fire

A 30-year-old Joel Barlow High School grad has been identified as the person killed in a condominium fire on Saturday, Dec. 22.

Sean Ryan Lindsley, 30, of Seymour, died at Griffin Hospital following complications received during a residential fire at the Balance Rock condominiums in Seymour.

Born in Bridgeport on June 22, 1988, Lindsley was raised in Seymour and Easton, graduating from Joel Barlow High School in 2006. 

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2008 attaining the rank of Corporal and served his duty assigned to security forces until the time of his honorable discharge in 2013. 

Lindsley attended Keene State and Naugatuck Valley Community Colleges, prior to working as a machinist for the Gen-El-Mec Associates, Inc. of Oxford for the past four years.

An accomplished downhill ski racer and winter sports enthusiast Lindsley was a ski instructor at Okemo Mountain in Ludlow, Vermont. He also enjoyed riding quads, motorcycling, fishing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, target shooting, cooking steak and reading. 

In addition to parents, Jerry C. and Mary A. Starks Lindsley of Grantham, New Hampshire, he is survived by his sister, Brooke Anne Lindsley of Waterbury, Vermont; Brooke’s fiancé, Benton Mitchell of Monkton, Vermont, his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Jennie Srubas Lindsley of Newington, and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Ann Tripeny Starks.
