NEW CANAAN, Conn. - Georgia Mae Williams, a longtime resident of New Canaan, died Tuesday, April 16. She was 93.
Williams was born May 22, 1919, in rural South Carolina to Carrie Mae Hall and Jimmy Williams. She was raised by her aunt, Jane Trapp in Strother, S.C. She moved out to Connecticut and was employed as a domestic worker for several families. In 1971 she purchased her home in New Canaan, where she lived for her remaining years.
Williams is survived by her nephew, Jimmy Williams, of Union, S.C.; one great-niece; many nieces and nephews; and friends. She was predeceased by her mother; and aunt, Jane.
Calling hours at the church one hour prior to the service. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church, Cherry St., 174 Cherry St., New Canaan. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church in Williams’s name.
