Anna Spinosa, 90, New Canaan Seamstress

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Anna Spinosa, a longtime resident of New Canaan, died June 7 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 90. 

Born in Italy on June 15, 1921, she was the daughter of Salvatore and Felicia Pellegi Bellissimo. She was married to Anthony "Buddy" Spinosa and was employed at the Deli-Bake on Elm Street for many years. Spinosa also worked as a seamstress for the Whitney Shop. She was a longtime communicant of St. Aloysius Church. 

Spinosa is survived by two daughters, Phyllis (Richard) Massey-Interlandi, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Patricia (Wayne) Gilbert, of Sterling Mass; a brother, Vincent Bellissimo, of Stamford; a sister, Lisa Bellissimo, of New Canaan; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, with burial following at Lakeview Cemetery. Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan was in charge of arrangements.
