New Canaan Board of Finance Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The finance board will have its regular meeting. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.
New Canaan Traffic Calming Committee: 1:30 p.m. The commission will have a regular meeting to discuss several streets in town. New Canaan Police Department, 174 South Ave.
Romeo & Juliet at New Canaan Library: 6:30 p.m. Shakespeare on the Sound presents a preview performance of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet adapted for children ages 7 and up. New Canaan Historical Review Committee: 2 p.m. The Historical Review Committee will meet in the town hall board room. On the agenda is consideration of an application for demolition permit relating to the building at 47 Jelliff Mill Road. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.
New Canaan Library World Events, History and Culture Book Group: 7:30 p.m. The World Events, History and Culture Book Group will be discussing The Origins of the Second World War by Richard Overy in the Plaut Conference Room. The discussion is free and open to the public, and will be led by Ken Hecht. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
Thursday, June 14
New Canaan Town Council Education Committee: 6:30 p.m. The committee will host a meeting to discuss preparations for the 2013-14 budget process as it relates to the New Canaan Board of Education. It will also work on establishing expectations from the board of education as documents and information are provided to the town bodies during the budget deliberations.
Author Simon Mawer at New Canaan Library: 7 p.m. Mawer, author of the New York Times bestseller The Glass Room, will discuss his new novel, Trapeze, at the New Canaan Library on Thursday in the Adrian Lamb Room. This event is part of the Authors on Stage program. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
