What’s Happening in New Canaan This Weekend

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A summer concert, camping out and acoustic music are some of the events planned for this weekend in around New Canaan. 

Friday, June 22

Notes in Summer Concert: 7:30 p.m. The Friends of New Canaan Library present the annual "Notes in Summer" concert featuring Moxie. Dorothy Goldberg, Kate O’Brien and Diane Orson perform their original arrangements of swing, Brazilian samba, jazz and romantic ballads. A full rhythm section, two hot violins, authentic costumes and choreography make this show a blast. The performance will be outside at the west plaza entrance or in the Lamb Room in the event of rain. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Saturday, June 23 

New Canaan Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors will be selling farm fresh foods, soaps, crafts and other treats at the Center School Parking Lot on the corner of Maple and Main streets. The Farmers Market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, through Nov. 17. 

Great American Campout: 4 p.m. Saturday to 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Take part in this nationwide overnight camping experience. Campers will pitch their tents at the Nature Center and experience the magic of sleeping under the stars. Naturalists will lead a firefly night hike, facilitate a cookout dinner, early morning breakfast and bird walk. Bring your own camping gear and snacks. A limited number of Nature Center tents are available to rent. Tents are $75 for Nature Center members and $100 for non-members. For more information, call 203-966-9577, ext. 20. Sunday, June 24

Musician Arieb Azhar: 5 p.m. Silvermine Arts Center presents Arieb Azhar as part of Center StageSM, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Humanist politics and mystic poetry are given a global voice by this singer-songwriter and his acoustic band from Islamabad, Pakistan.  Azhar’s performance will be in Sara Victoria Hall Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for Silvermine members and $20 for non-members. Silvermine Arts Center, 1037 Silvermine Road.
