What's Happening in New Canaan This Weekend

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Zombies, a tour of great gardens and discussion of a memoir are some of the events planned for this weekend in and around New Canaan. 

Friday

Secret Gardens tour: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nature center staff will lead visitors on a tour of New Canaan gardens representing the past, present and future of landscape design. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. The tour will take place rain or shine. New Canaan Nature Center, 144 Oenoke Ridge.

Saturday

Zombiefest: Noon. Learn zombie apocalypse survival skills, play zombie-themed games, eat zombie-inspired food and win prizes in contests, including a costume contest. Zombiefest is for students in grades 7 to 12. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

New Canaan Farmers’ Market: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit with vendors selling farm fresh foods, soaps, crafts and other treats. The Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday rain or shine through Nov. 17. Center School Parking Lot at Maple and Main streets. Sunday

Author talk: 4 p.m. Jeannette Seaver, wife of the late, legendary publishing figure Richard Seaver, will appear at the library's H. Pelham Curtis Gallery. Seaver is the editor of her husband’s engrossing memoir "The Tender Hour of Twilight: Paris in the '50s, New York in the '60s: A Memoir of Publishing's Golden Age." The event is co-sponsored by Elm Street Books. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
