The incident took place on around 3:56 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25 when Rolen Altamirano, 50 and Beatriz Altamirano, 42, both of Weston, became involved in a dispute with Leslie Philibert, 45, of Danbury, said Wilton Police Capt. Robert Cipolla.

According to Cipolla, the Altamirano's rented a space for their business at 978 Danbury Road where they also store wood.

Over the course of several weeks they noticed through video surveillance that someone was stealing wood from a woodpile at the location, Cipolla said.

As a result, the Altamirano's decided to stake out the property and wait for the individual to show-up.

Early Tuesday, Philbert pulled up in a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon and allegedly began to load wood into the back of his vehicle, Cipolla said.

The Altamirano's pulled up their vehicle and blocked Philbert's, and confronted him armed with bats, Cipolla said.

During a fight, Philbert got hold of one of the aluminum bats and began to allegedly hit both of the Altamirano's with the weapon, causing serious injuries to their faces and head, he said.

When Wilton police arrived on the scene all three were arrested.

All three individuals were transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.

The Altamirano's were charged with breach of peace and released on a promise to appear ticket.

After being discharged from the hospital Philbert was taken into custody charged with robbery, assault, criminal trespass, and larceny.

He is being held on a $30,000 bond.
