NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Fire officials were concerned about spilled fuel after a tractor-trailer carrying Poland Spring Water bottled water to Florida struck a railroad bridge on Old Stamford Road on Sunday, according to the Connecticut Post.
New Canaan Fire Chief Jack Hennessey told the Connecticut Post that the fuel from the truck didn't enter storm drains because of the pitch of the road, which in turn, prevented it from entering the nearby waterway, said the Connecticut Post.
A spill cleanup unit from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the scene, and an investigation is continuing into the cause of the accident, added the Connecticut Post.
