Second Person From Fairfield County Dies After 4 Found Shot In Car

A second person has died after Connecticut State Police found four people shot in a vehicle.

The incident took place in New Haven County around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1 on Route 15 in Hamden.

According to Connecticut State Police, troopers responded to a report of several people in a vehicle who had sustained gunshot wounds, on Route 15 southbound in the area of Exit 60, in the town of Hamden.

When officers arrived they found the driver, Adrian Lopez, 23, of Bridgeport, dead. Three additional occupants were transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital. The Central District Major Crime Squad responded to assume the investigation, state police said.

On Thursday, Jan. 5, a second occupant died from his injuries, state police said. He has been identified as Qualon Wilkes, age 22, of Bridgeport.

Conditions were not provided for the other two occupants of the vehicle.

The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
