Connecticut State Police say the allegations stem from an incident that occurred Dec. 20, 2018, when officers were notified by a Griswold mother that her son had allegedly had sexual relations with a 27-year-old man while the boy was home sick from school.

Further investigation revealed that the 27-year-old, identified as Chazzman Chung, an Enlisted Sailor at the Groton Submarine base, admitted to cultivating a relationship with the juvenile victim using a social media app known as Grindr, police say.

Chung also admitted to sexually assaulting the victim in his barracks room and returning the boy to his home shortly after, according to police.

Chung turned himself in to Connecticut State Police on Tuesday, April 9. He was charged with risk of injury to a child and enticing a minor by computer.

Chung was released on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, April 18.
