The storm arrived on Monday evening, March 13, and has continued into Tuesday, March 14, bringing steady rain and even snowfall in the areas of the state north of the I-84 corridor.

Along with precipitation, the Nor'easter has also brought strong wind gusts as high as 40 to 50 miles per hour to the state, knocking down trees and power lines.

As a result, thousands of residents have been left without electricity, with Eversource reporting just over 7,000 statewide outages on Tuesday as of around 11:15 a.m.

Many of the municipalities most affected by power outages are in Northwestern Connecticut in Litchfield County and Western Hartford County.

Communities that are most affected include:

  • Canaan, with 201 outages;
  • Cornwall, with 356 outages;
  • Goshen, with 301 outages;
  • Granby, with 870 outages;
  • Hartland, with 433 outages;
  • Norfolk, with 507 outages;
  • North Canaan, with 287 outages;
  • Salisbury, with 672 outages;
  • Simsbury, with 288 outages;
  • Torrington, with 357 outages;
  • Weston, with 533 outages.

Those who still have their lights on should still prepare for the worst, as the storm is expected to linger in the region until Wednesday morning, March 15, according to the National Weather Service.
