New Canaan Teen Faces Alcohol Possession Charges

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A 15-year-old girl will have to answer to juvenile charges of allowing minors to possess alcohol and failure to halt possession of alcohol by a minor.

Police responded to the girl’s Wiffle Tree Lane home at about 11:22 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call about underage drinking at a party. Police arrived to find empty and full beer cans inside and outside of the home. Police found the 15-year-old girl, whose parents were not home at the time, along with three other 15-year-olds, three 16-year-olds and one 14-year-old. The girl is scheduled to appear in Stamford Juvenile Court Aug. 21.

Burglary: Police are investigating who broke into a Woodridge Drive and stole a pair of laptop computers. Police said a 58-year-old resident arrived at his home at about 9 p.m. Wednesday to find a window was broken. Police said two laptops were missing, a MacBook pro valued at $2,000 and a Sony Vaio valued at $2,300. Police said the man last saw the computers in the home at about 8 a.m. Aug. 7.

Missing Construction Signs: Police are investigating who stole four signs from a work site on West Road near Greenly Road. Police said the owner of FBG Construction of Darien noticed the construction signs were missing at about 7:50 a.m. Friday. The signs were valued at about $1,600.
