NEW CANAAN, Conn. Be easy on the gas and buckle your seat belt this weekend, New Canaan.
Starting Friday, the New Canaan Police Department is intensifying its efforts to nab drivers who violate traffic laws. Capt. Leon Krolikowski said officers will be in marked and unmarked vehicles to look for motorists who are driving without their seat belts as part of the statewide Click-It or Ticket campaign.
Officers will also be looking out for drivers who exceed the speed limit, use their cellphones while behind the wheel, pass stopped school buses, follow too close to other vehicles or violate other traffic laws that contribute to accidents.
Police will focus on heavily traveled roads, including New Norwalk Road, Smith Ridge Road, Oenoke Ridge Road, Old Stamford Road, Jelliff Mill Road and South Avenue, Krolikowski said.
