Several pieces of jewelry worth about $8,000, including gold and diamond earrings, a wedding band and an engagement band, were missing, police said. Also taken were $500 in cash and $5,000 in sterling silver flatware. Police said a neighbor saw a couple of vehicles parked in the homes driveway before 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
A door in the rear of the house was forced open, police said. Police were not sure whether the home had an alarm system.
