NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan Town Council has once again delayed a vote to nominate Waveny Park to the National Registry of Historic Places, according to the Stamford Advocate.
The vote was delayed amid fears that the town would lose control over the property if it is listed in the national registry, the Stamford Advocate said.
If the property is listed in the registry, a review process by the National Parks Service would be required any time significant renovation or construction is planned. Those that support the listing, however, contend that the National Parks review is only required if federal funds are attached to the property, the Stamford Advocate said.
The vote, which was tabled once before in July, will go before the board again during a meeting on Dec. 17, the Stamford Advocate reported.
