Breaking News: 'Immeasurable Loss': Jennifer Dulos' Family Marks Three-Year Anniversary Of Disappearance

What's On Your Mind, New Canaan?

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – From homework to the economy to where to get a good bite to eat, people in New Canaan were focused on different things Thursday afternoon when we asked them what they were thinking about.

Friends Meghan Guarnieri, 19, and Veronica Richey, 20, were thinking about dinner. More important, they pondered where they could grab a bite to eat that was a little fresher than what they had already tried.

“We need a new, young, fun restaurant in town,” said Richey, who is spending the summer back in New Canaan after finishing another year at American University. “Something geared more to younger people than the New Canaan Diner.”

Jack Santoni was thinking about the nation’s economy and creating new jobs while enjoying the afternoon at the New Canaan Starbucks. “We need to do something and get things going,” he said.

Santoni’s daughter Sabrina, 13, had a more pressing concern. “I’m thinking about the amount of homework I have to do,” she said with a chuckle, dreading the language arts assignment she has to turn in on Friday. “It’s a process.”

Estafani Escobar, 22, of Norwalk, was thinking about money. Rather, she was thinking about not losing money to the New Canaan Parking Department as she took a break from her job at Starbucks to walk to her car. “I hope I don’t have a parking ticket,” she said. “There’s not enough space to park in front of the store.”

For Mike Behar, the afternoon was a lot easier. While he waited for his son to finish a job interview at a Main Street shop, he took up space on the bench in front of the old Gramophone Video Store and enjoyed the summer-like day in the shade.

“It’s a nice day and I’m glad I have the time to spend time and enjoy it,” he said.
