4-CT Card Has Most Impact In Helping CT Residents During The Pandemic

4-CT’s goal, when it was formed back in mid-March, was to provide rapid relief for Connecticut residents most impacted by COVID-19. No one expected this to be easy, yet since its founding, the non-profit has met the objective with almost 30 grants ranging from $25K to $3 million to help local community members.

“We could not have achieved such tremendous impact without the support of Governor Lamont and state officials, along with our partners in the community foundations, non-profits and other organizations who have helped us,” said Ted Yang, 4-CT CEO and co-founder along with Don Kendall. “We also have to thank all those who contributed and the more than 75 volunteers and staff who are part of our 4-CT team.”

4-CT has provided PPE and healthcare to thousands of residents, kept hundreds of families out of shelters, purchased and donated more than a million pounds of food, established more than two dozen childcare facilities and much, much more. You can find the most up-to-date list at

The group’s biggest impact has come from a little card—the 4-CT Card—which has delivered more than $1 million (and counting) in direct aid to the most vulnerable populations. Essentially a preloaded debit card, it allows families, often left out of any federal relief aid, to pay bills, visit doctors and keep food on their tables. The 4-CT Card has been recognized by the Alliance for America and other national organizations as a groundbreaking and efficient program. To date it has helped more than 3,000 families across 77 towns.

The job, however, is far from done.

With the possibility of a second wave, 4-CT is putting all of its focus on the 4-CT Card program. “We want to stick with what works to help the most residents we can, and the 4-CT Card is that program,” said Yang.

That means asking for your help. Please consider making a donation to your neighbors in need—one hundred percent of which will go directly to their aid. Visit to learn more.

"Our goal with the 4-CT Card remains helping those who need the most help here in Connecticut, and we will continue to need all of your support for us to succeed as we move to the next phase of the COVID-19 crisis," Yang said. "Thank you so much for all you have done for our state."
