NORWALK, Conn. — How do you know its spring along Long Island Sound? Owners begin prepping their boats for a new season on the water, says Jason Trimbach, boat captain at Nautical Solutions in Norwalk.
By next week, most people who own boats will be hard to work, checking off items on a to-do list as the weather and the water warms up, he said.
On Thursday morning, Trimbach was at the Norwalk Cove Marina on Calf Pasture Beach Road, getting boats ready for his clients.
“I work year round, managing people’s boats. Before they can be taken out for the season, they may need sanding, painting and electrical system checks,” said Trimbach, who was hard at work.
Peter Fagan of Bethel will soon be getting his own boat ready for the first excursion of the season. He has been boating since he was a young boy, and now he enjoys taking out his wife and three children on his powerboat.
"We go on Long Island Sound off of Norwalk, to about five or six different islands," he said. "We find one that we feel like stopping at and go swimming or go up on the island. We also go clamming and fishing. We cook dinner out there and spend the whole day there."
His parents also join in on the trips. so boating is a chance for his whole family to be together.
"I bond with my parents and the kids enjoy seeing their grandparents. They unplug from their cellphones and relax," Fagan said.
