Monday, April 30

New Canaan Inland Wetlands Commission meeting:  7:30 p.m. The Inland Wetlands Commission will have its regular meeting. Among the items on the agenda is the continuation of the public hearing on the housing application for 41 and 47 Jelliff Mill Road. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.

Author Nancy Goldstone at New Canaan Library: Noon. Nancy Goldstone, author of "The Maid and the Queen: the Secret History of Joan of Arc," will appear at The New Canaan Library as part of the Authors on Stage program. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Tuesday, May 1

Planning and Zoning Commission special meeting: 7 p.m. The New Canaan Planning and Zoning Commission will have a special meeting to receive comments on the proposed housing development at 41 and 47 Jelliff Mill Road. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.

New Canaan Library Teen Advisory Group:  5 p.m. The New Canaan Library’s Teen Advisory Board will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the library’s Plaut Room to record a podcast. The group will talk about the books, movies, music, and Internet stuff that they’ve loved or hated recently. The group is for children in grades 7 to 12.  New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.


Wednesday, May 2

Friends Lunch Bunch Discussion: Noon. The Friends Lunch Bunch Book Group discussion will be led by Laurie Iffland. The book being discussed is "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer. Lunch will be served. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.  

Thursday, May 3New Canaan Parking Commission: 8 p.m.  The Parking Commission will host its regular meeting. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.  

Learn To Connect with Relationship Coach Candace Brindley: 7 p.m. Join Brindley in the Adrian Lamb Room at the New Canaan Library for a special night for singles. Finding quality people to date seems to be a major stumbling block for many, otherwise highly eligible, single adults. Come share an evening with Brindley and other singles to learn and discuss how to gain social leverage with the Internet’s dating sites as well as how to discover other, even more effective, venues for meeting an ideal partner.  Candace has a background in banking, sales, and education in Europe, Hong Kong, New York, and Connecticut. New Canaan High School Band Concert: 7:30 p.m. New Canaan High School musicians will participate in the annual band concert. New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road.

Friday, May 4

West School Strings Concert: 9:30 a.m. West School students in grades 2 to 4 will take part in the West School strings concert. West School.

New Canaan High School Boys’ Baseball: 4 p.m. The NCHS boys’ varsity baseball team will host the Stamford High School Black Knights. Mead Park.
