New Canaan Historic District Commission: 5 p.m. The Historic District Commission will have its regular meeting. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.

Civil War Lecture at New Canaan Library: The Battle of Antietam: 7 p.m. Richard L. Judd, president emeritus of Central Connecticut State University, will be on hand for the discussion. Judd served as a U.S. National Park Service Ranger at the Antietam National Battlefield Site. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Friday, Sept. 28

New Canaan Library High School Lock-In:  Fun at the library after hours. From 5 p.m. to midnight, the library will have games, a scavenger hunt, a "backstage tour," movies, dinner, and fun with friends. Have the library to yourself with no noise limit.
