Author To Speak On 'Climate And Food' At New Canaan Library

This free event begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 in the Lamb Room at the New Canaan Library, 151 Main St., which is a co-sponsor of the program.

It features William Sweet, an adjunct instructor in European history at City University of New York and independent writer.

Sweet is the author of "Kicking the Carbon Habit: Global Warming and the Case for Renewable and Nuclear Energy," published in June 2006. He now is working on a book about the diplomacy of climate change.

Sweet has been a blogger for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Spectrum's website and the Foreign Policy Association’s website. He previously served as senior news editor, senior editor and senior associate editor at IEEE Spectrum. In addition, he was associate editor of the magazine "Physics Today" and a staff writer for the Congressional Quarterly.

He holds a master’s degree in public policy and international affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Chicago.
