A doughnut shop, a pizza parlor, and a Sacred Heart University dining facility all failed to meet the Town of Fairfield's Health Department's standards in the month of February, according to the department.

On Monday, Feb. 13, the dining facility at SHU called 63's, received a failing grade of 85, according to documents from the Town of Fairfield's health department.

The facility, located at 5151 Park Ave. in Fairfield and operated by food service management Chartwells, failed to maintain correct temperatures for multiple food items, cooled food improperly, and had various unclean surfaces. A moldy wall and unprotected desserts were also among the listed infractions.

"We are grateful, as always, to the town for its diligence with these inspections because nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors," said Sacred Heart University's executive director of communications Deb Noack. "We are working diligently with our food service providers to prevent this from happening in the future."

Doughnut Inn, located at 562 Post Rd. in Fairfield, received a failing grade of 76 on Tuesday, Feb. 21, according to health department documents.

Among the doughnut shop's violations were improper temperatures for food holding, failure to sanitize utensils, and the placement of personal items in food storage.

The eatery has not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.

The doughnut shop has an average of four-star Google reviews. Negative reviews mostly complain of service issues, rather than problems with food.

Domino's Pizza, located at 1580 Post Rd. in Fairfield, failed health inspections on both Monday, Jan. 23, and Monday, Feb. 6, according to health department documents.

The initial inspection resulted in a score of 68, and the second inspection had a score of 76.

The pizza parlor was cited as failing to properly clean and sanitize pizza pans every four hours, holding food at improper temperatures, having a "very unclean" mop sink, and failing to have a required hand sink in one area of the restaurant.

A second inspection two weeks later included some of the same complaints and noted that bare hands touched the pizza.

The Post Road Domino's has not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.

The restaurant has a Google rating of about three and a half stars.

"I ordered a handmade pan pizza from here," one reviewer wrote. "When I received it it was incredibly undercooked. The cheese was barely melted on top. The pizza was raw almost the entire way through."
