A Connecticut man was killed after losing control of his vehicle in a single-vehicle crash, according to authorities.

Fairfield County resident Andrew Chapin, ag 31, of Shelton, was killed around 8 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9 in the town of Seymour in New Haven County, said the Connecticut State Police.

According to troopers, Chapin was driving a Kawasaki Motorcycle, northbound on Route 8, in the area of Exit 21, Town of Seymour when he failed to "maintain a proper lane and veered toward the right shoulder."

Chapin was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries, troopers said.

He was transported by Seymour Ambulance to Waterbury Emergency Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, they added.

Troopers said that during the crash, the weather was clear, the road was dry, and traffic volume was light and moving at a steady flow.

The investigation remains open at this time. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or may have further information regarding the crash, is asked to contact Trooper P.J. Cormier at 203-393-4200 or Paul.Cormier@ct.gov

Furthermore, if you were driving through the area of the collision at the time of the crash, and may have footage recorded on a vehicle-equipped dashboard camera, you are also asked to contact Trooper Cormier.
